Colleen Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us, has publicly expressed her support for Blake Lively. It is following Lively’s recent sexual harassment lawsuit against her director and co-star, Justin Baldoni. The allegations have sparked significant media attention. This prompted Hoover, who is also an executive producer of the film adaptation, to stand by Blake during this challenging time.
Colleen Hoover supports Blake Lively post Justin Baldoni case
On Saturday, Colleen Hoover took to her Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt message for Blake Lively. She wrote, “@blakelively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met. Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.”
In her post, Hoover included a link to a New York Times article titled, We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine. The article elaborated on allegations by Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni. The article detailed claims of a “social manipulation” campaign orchestrated by Baldoni and his team, aimed at tarnishing Blake’s reputation. In the wake of these accusations, reports confirmed that Baldoni has been dropped by his agency, WME.
What are the allegations?
In her lawsuit, Blake accused Justin of sexual harassment and alleged that he led a smear campaign against her. It was followed by a meeting she attended with her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds. The meeting was intended to address what Blake described as “repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behaviour” from Baldoni and a producer associated with the film.
Justin Baldoni’s team has denied Blake Lively’s allegations, asserting that they are “categorically false.” In a statement to Variety, they described Lively’s claims as shameful and characterized them as a desperate attempt to repair her reputation. The actor’s claim was damaged by her own remarks and actions during the film’s promotional campaign. They highlighted that public scrutiny arose from unedited interviews and press activities.
It Ends With Us was released in August 2024. It has drawn attention not only for its content but also for the reported tensions between Blake and Justin during the promotional period. With both stars appearing at events separately, leading to speculation about their relationship.
